In 1994, John plugged two CD players into the back of his friend’s brother’s Hi Fi, jammed two buttons down and played two prodigy CDs at the same time. It sounded terrible, but that was his introduction to DJing, not that he knew it at the time
7 years later and John has progressed to two turntables and a mixer and loves doing what he’s doing. Since he can remember liking music in any way, he was always into James Brown and soul and after going through many different shades of dance music he’s eventually ended up on deep, soulful, Latin, Afro and always a little bit funky house music.
In January 2002 he started his own night, known as The Sandbank Sessions, in SPI in Dublin .The Sandbank Sessions was John DJing and spinning beats to the accompaniment of 4 musicians, Bass, rhythm and lead guitars and sax. Playing souped up retro classics and new and original material
He also co-ran REPRESENT, a new Hip-Hop night in Dublin, where they aim to expose and promote new talent, be it DJ’s, Breakers or graffiti artists.
John is also a resident at weekly house club; LowDown in WAX, Dublin
In June 2002, John joined the ranks of Bodytonic Music. A Dublin based house music collective, promotions outfit and record label. Since debuting for Bodytonic John has swiftly become an important member of the team and has played for Bodytonic in the Voodoo Lounge, playing support to Jori Hulkkonen, Charles Webster, the Inland Knight and more and is now a resident at our Saturday club ‘Shake’ in Molloys.
